Facts about archaeology in the Little Wittenham area

  • Volunteers have helped Oxford Archaeology to excavate the area around the Wittenham Clumps, the site of settlements for more than a thousand years. Preliminary reports on the 2003 and 2004 excavations can be downloaded from the Oxford Archaeology.
  • You can help research the archaeology of your area by joining a local historical or archaeological group, or use the BBC History for a national overview.
  • There are nearly 40 museums around Oxfordshire which are open to the public.
